trl_morning_portraits The Roman Line "Morning Portraits - CD (MER-003) - Release Date December 1, 2009
The Joe Queer produced debut album combines the classic sounds of punk rock, rock ’n roll and traditional country music with a boundless energy and top notch songwriting. Recorded at the Electric Cave in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, using all analog equipment, “Morning Portraits” boasts 11 songs with lyrical depth that runs the gamut of human emotions while delivering massive hooks through anthemic, sing-a-long choruses. While the band currently resides in Metro Toronto, this album is deeply rooted in the band’s adolescence in Southwestern Ontario, voices awash in gravel and rye whiskey singing songs born in the community halls and concession line pubs of the Tobacco Belt.  This album is co-released with Monster Zero Inc. (Kevin Aper - The Apers) from the Netherlands.

thrash_compactor
The Ergs! "Thrash Compactor" - 7 inch - Black Vinyl

(Grave Mistake GM-39)
The Ergs record that never was, but always should have been.  Five songs of short, fast, and catchy hardcore/punk like only the Ergs can do it. If you're only familiar with their post-Ben Kweller EP catalog, then you might not be aware of their penchant for ripping' hardcore/punk along the lines of bands like Adrenaline OD, "Bonus Fat"-era Descendents, and Angry Samoans. With lyrics about douchebag frontmen of former punk bands, high school killing sprees, suburban banality, and killing presidents ... you know you can't go wrong. This EP will fly right by you, but hook you right in to keep playing it over and over. Thankfully, it's one-sided so you just got to move the needle back to the start. No flipping required.

varsityweirdos
Varsity Weirdos "Can't Go Home"
Double CD
(It's Alive IAR-42)
The Varsity Weirdos are back with their fourth release and first full-length album for It’s Alive Records. When everything has been done, go back to the start and do it again. Do it right. Do it better than it’s been done before. When it comes to classic pop punk it all starts and ends with the Ramones. The Varsity Weirdos are one of the few bands hanging from the Ramones family tree that somehow manage to take what’s been done, but make it sound all their own - a rare feat in the post Screeching Weasel and Queers world. They don’t do it by adding unnecessary extras for the sake of it. They don’t do it by merging the tried and true with some new and improved garbage. They simply do it by playing true to what they love. Sincerity goes a long way in a genre filled mostly with songs about bubblegum and the junior prom. You either hate the genre or you love it - there’s very little room for fence-sitting. Can’t Go Home might not make converts out of any of the haters, but it’s sure to serve as a strong reminder to all the lovers why they still give a shit about classic pop punk.

That's Incredible "S/T" - 7 inch - Mixed Colour Vinyl
(It's Alive - IAR-45)
That's Incredible are a new four-piece band from San Pedro, California made up of current and former members of Toys That Kill, The Soviettes, Killer Dreamer and Dick Army. Their debut release bears influence of their other bands' signature styles, but it has an awesome new sound and style all its own coming from the chemistry created by the combining of them all into one. Three lead vocalists each with a distinct, varying style will keep you guessing what's next from song to song. They play straight forward, poppy and thrashy punk jams. The band name really says it all... This record is incredible!

sheboygan
Jetty Boys "Sheboygan" - CD
(Rally RR-021)
Wisconsin based Jetty Boys up the the ante in the world of Power Pop Punk. Their sophomore effort, “Sheboygan” builds on the rock solid foundation of the 2008 S/T release and pushes them further into even better song writing and musicianship. Songs like “Reflectors” are an instant pop classic, while “I’ll Be Fine” recalls the finer years of mid-nineties Lookout Records pop punk with out relying on cliché or tired gimmick. If you liked the punky pop of the Leftovers “On The Move”, miss early Greenday and want a progressive pop punk record with guys who tear it up like the Ergs!, “Sheboygan” is for you.
